I haven't posted in a few days...I have had a lot going on. Work has really been busy and we are working with less employees. Hours have been cut and we are all being stretched in all different directions. When I come home, I am just exhausted.
My son called me yesterday from Memphis and he was in the hospital. They thought that he had the flu. After testing him and giving him fluids, etc., they have decided that he has Mono. His spleen and liver are swollen. I want him to come home so that I can take care of him but he doesn't think that he needs to. The doctor told him not to play sports and to eat healthy and he should be better in about a month. I looked it up on the Internet and it says that he should REST. Like in bed rest and take it easy because he could rupture his spleen if he picks up anything heavy. He plans to go back to work tonight. He is afraid that he will lose his job. I wish that he would come home and let me help him get well and then he could go back afterwards if he wants to. If his job is gone when he gets back, he could get another one. I know that he is trying to be responsible but I want him to get well.

Oh, those horrible Motherly tugs. Our children hurt & we have to take care of them, or the boo-boo's, don't we. That was one of the hardest parts of my 'letting go' of mine ... letting them take care of their selves. What a wonderful child, trying to reassure you ... May your child heal quickly & take care of himself, as mono is not fun & they need to rest. Prayers upward for you & he ... TTFN ~ Marydon
Hey darling...oh, I can only imagine what you are going through...Our mom heart beats just kick in and we simply want to swoop in, scoop them up and make everything better...like days of long ago!
I hope that you will accept my kind and warm thoughts...and my prayers.
For you and your son.... :)
I am sure he knows how much you love him!
My daughter had mono and had to take bed rest for a week then do nothing but go to school and straight home for about a month. She was fine after but had to have bloodwork after 6 weeks to make sure she was okay.
I feel for you with your son. It is scarry when they discuss major organs are affected.
LL~I hope your feeling better and if not, your resting to build up your strength or calm down your muscles. Have you some tea, a good movie or book and just take it easy when you get off work. Hugs my friend.
Hi sweet Lee,
Gosh, I hope he gets better soon.. Once a Momma always a Momma.. I feel for you !! When do we ever get over this ?! Never I suppose.. I'll lift Cole in prayer, and just keep encouraging him to rest and eat well.. Hope you're feeling better my friend..hugs and love ~tea~xo
So sorry to hear your son is sick, mono is not fun. He really should be very careful, my son was smaller when he had it but the doctor could not stess how important it is to rest and avoid all physical activity because of that spleen. It is so hard once they're grown, isn't it? We still want to just wrap them up in our arms and keep them safe and take care of them, bless your heart, I know you'll worry like crazy. I'm hoping he feels better soon. (Maybe he'll listen to his Momma) they do when we don't think they are ya know. ;)

Oh goodness! I will be praying for your son, I hope he will do as the doctor says and rest!
Sorry to hear your son is not well, you have had a bad time lately. It's no use telling you not to worry because its something that we can't stop ourselves from doing isn't it? When my kids have been sick the only way I stop worrying as much is to know they have emergency contact numbers and someone close by to them to look in on them often if possible.
Can you send him little messages or gifts to let him know he is not alone & that you are thinking of him & that you are only a phone call away?
Take care
Vicki
Cole will be ok. I am proud of himing trying to hang in there and work. He got that toughness from you. Remember that if we need to, we will go up there to get him and bring him home to take care of him.
He knows that we are here for him. I also realize, how hard it must be for you. I am here for you also, as always.
