My dinner date with Daddy

One day last week while I was at work, I decided to send my daddy a text and ask him out on a dinner date. We had not been out together for a long time. We are both so busy all of the time with our jobs, that there is hardly anytime extra time for anything else. Daddy has his own business and he works all of the time. He is a jeweler and this is a very busy time of year for him. My text went something like this..."If you want to go out with your daughter on a dinner date tonight, text me back. I'm at work and I work until 6:00." I wasn't even sure that he would see the text. My girlfriend at work ask me if my daddy even knew how to text. I thought that was funny...but after 2 hours when I didn't get an answer, I was beginning to wonder. LOL

Anyway, he text me back and said yes and we went out that night and really had a good time.

We went to Dixie Springs Steakhouse. I rarely ever eat beef but that night I ordered a steak and it was delicious. I only ate half of it though. It was very big.

I think Daddy thought I was strange taking this picture of him for my blog. He has never seen my blog before and I don't think he even knows what it is. I will have to show him one day. I like this picture of him. They even had their Christmas trees still up. At least they were white. They look kind of shabby chic.

I think about Daddy all of the time and how we should try to spend more time together. What really got me to thinking about it a lot that day was after I had read Rebecca's post from 'A Gathering of Thoughts' about her and her dad. It really touched my heart. I started to really think about both of my parents and how little time we really spend together. I plan on changing that from now on.

I love you daddy.

Visit from Cole

My son Cole came to see me a couple of days ago. I think he was missing his momma! I really enjoyed our time together even though it was a short visit. He had a couple of days off from work so he chose to spend it with me. (Yay!) We went out to eat at our favorite Chinese restaurant the night before he left. Can you believe that I remembered to take my camera? The food there is delicious! We had a great time together.

Cole thought it was funny that I bring my own seasoning with me when I go out to eat. I had to bring my little shaker of 'Toney's'. I love the restaurant's snow crab legs...they just need some help in the seasoning department. A little 'toney's' mixed in with the melted butter does the trick. I ate entirely too much! It was delicious!

I could eat seafood every single day. I'm not a big meat eater but seafood...that's a different story.

Here is Cole, Tyler and his girlfriend, Crystal. Tyler is my friend Stevie's son. Look at Cole's face...he was saying "Hey, Mom What's up with the camera?"

This is Hayley, Stevie's daughter. Garrett wasn't with us. He was with his daddy.

Me and Cole. I love this picture.

My fortune was a good one. It really hit home with me. I've been so stressed out lately and seeing my son helped me. He listens to my stories and I listen to his. I know that we will always be there for one another.

Cole, me, Stevie, Crystal, Tyler and Hayley.

The next day before Cole had to leave. I made him wait while I ran back inside to get my camera. This is his new little car that he bought on his own. He loves it. He just had to make the trip down here to show me!

My little boy all grown up. (That's the camera strap in the top of the photo) LOL

I helped him pack up his car with his things and more outfits for Gabriel. I plan on going to visit them soon. I'm so proud of Cole. I just hated to see him go.

Hugs to you all!

My favorite teacup and the big reveal of my china cabinet

Hi everyone! I just came back to this post to link it to Traci's first 'linky' party. Traci has a blog called 'Beneath My Heart'. I know many of you already know her and follow her blog. For those of you that have not met her yet, you have just got to go on over there and introduce yourself. I love Traci's blog and she is such a sweetheart, I know that you will love her too. I had originally done this post for another linky party at the beginning of March. You can just go through the teacup part 'til you get to my DIY project for March. My white china cabinet. Now that was a project! Hope you like it!

belle-blanc.blogspot.com

Hello everyone! Hope all of you are having a grrrreat day! Today I decided to join in at Mira's at "Belle Blanc"...she is hosting an "Action Give Away" on her blog. You are suppose to 'show your favorite teacup'.

I have so many teacups because I have collected them for years and I also sell china for a living! LOL

I chose this one because it's so pretty and also one that I use...not just sit on the shelf like it's doing in this picture. The real reason I decided to show this one is because of how special it is to me. My little boy Garrett bought it for me a few years ago. He was only 4 or 5 years old and we were shopping in an antique store one day and he spotted it and he wanted me to have it. He didn't have any money but he was sure that it was meant for me.

I remember lookin' down into his sweet big eyes and he had such a precious look on his face...he ask me if he could 'borrow' the money to buy it for me and he would pay me back later. I just smiled at him and decided to look at the price tag...the whole time I was hoping it didn't cost an arm and a leg! I smiled whenever I saw the price...$10.00 for the teacup and saucer set. (Thank goodness) Anyway, I told him yes and you should have seen the look on his face! I gave him the money and I let him carry it up to the counter all by himself. It was so sweet hearing him tell the lady at the counter that he was buying it for his momma. She looked over his head and smiled at me. She asked him if he would like it gift wrapped and he said "How much money will that cost me? I only have 1 ten and 1 one dollar bill." She told him that she would gladly do it for free.

When we got home that afternoon, Garrett went to his room and brought the money that he had been saving in his bank and paid me back. He also brought the gift wrapped present that he had bought just for me and handed it to me and gave me a huge hug. He said "Thank You, Momma." I will never forget that. He has such a loving heart. Later that night I replaced the money back into his bank and he never knew. I get a warm feeling inside every time I think about it.

Okay...remember this old china cabinet that I posted about a while back? Well...I finally finished it and even though it took me forever, it looks so pretty now. I primed it twice to cover up all of that yucky brown and then I painted it with the prettiest shade of white. I'm not exactly sure of the paint color because I started out with one color and after I had the whole out side of it painted...I changed my mind on the color! Have y'all ever done that before? Oh well, that just meant more work for me. Fortunately, I love to paint.

I found an old can of white paint that had a pearly look to it out in the shed. It didn't have the color or formula written on it anymore because it was so old and the label was faded. I just tried it and I loved it. The light makes it have a sparkle to the color. You might not can see it too much in the picture. I painted the inside a soft pink color just like my walls. That paint is called "Touch of White".

I put my pretty 'Lenox' china in it and I just love how pretty it became! This china is called 'Accoutrements" and it took me a while to collect. We don't sell it anymore at our store so I'm always on the lookout for it at stores like T.J.Maxx and Marshall's.

Didn't it turn out pretty? Paint does wonders!

Just overlook that little bit of paint that I got on the floor. (ooops!) I got it off later. I still haven't gotten my floor molding down either but I'm workin' on that soon!

I'm glad to have this project behind me! Let me know what y'all think. Just click on the pictures and they will get larger and you can see all of the detail. It was tough getting in all of those little cracks! LOL

I know this post was a long one...thanks for taking the time to listen to me ramble!

Love Y'all,

Girl's day out.

We had a fun "girl's day out" day last week. It was so much fun. Me, my sister, my daughter, and my Mom. We decided to do it kind-of spur of the moment, at least for us anyway. We usually have to plan way in advance because of everyone's schedule. It just kind of worked out easy this time. Initially it was only going to be three of us and than my sister text ed me that morning and said that mama wanted to go too. I was so glad that she wanted to go! The picture below was taken of my sister and me at the Starbucks cafe inside of Target. We thought the background was so perfect for a picture. I'm glad that I decided to wear a little make-up that day. It was going to be just a bummin' kind -of day...that's my bummin' jeans. I should've know someone would be pulling out a camera!

My sweet daughter, Christy. I love this picture of her. This was taken at Brady's restaurant in Hammond, La. My sister and I love that place and since Mom and Christy had never been there , we thought it would be a great place to take them. None of us were disappointed at all. The food was delicious and they give you so much! I didn't have my camera and I forgot that I could take pictures with my iPhone. I wish I would've taken pictures of our food for my blog. When I thought about using my phone...the food didn't look good anymore. LOL

Me and Christy...after eating. We were stuffed! I ordered fried shrimp, which is a 'no-no' for my diet! I had to start over with my diet the next day. It was so delicious though and I rarely ever eat fried food. We didn't get desert either...so we did good. My sister ordered Parmesan Chicken with pasta. I took a bite of hers and I wanted to switch! It was amazing!

Melinda, Christy and Mom. They were ready to go shopping and to burn some of this delicious food off...I had to get one more picture! We had so much fun and laughed so much. Mom is so funny and she always makes us laugh! Doesn't she look so cute here with her 'Betty Boop" shirt. She loves 'Betty Boop". We went to Hobby Lobby next...Mom calls it Hollie Hobby...She really use to think that was the name of it. We stayed in there for 2 hours. They had so much to look at. I get so excited whenever I get to go there! Y'all probably think I'm nuts when I talk about how I love that place, but when you don't have one, it is so exciting to go there! The only improvement that I think they could make would be to add a little snack bar or cafe...then we could just eat lunch there and never have to leave! Just shop 'til we dropped.
Next we went the Goodwill...you know I couldn't skip that place. They didn't really have much that I liked this time. We had fun though. All of us kept finding things with Betty Boop on it and ran taking it to mama to see if she liked it. That was fun! I even found a tee shirt that said "Betty Boop..know what boys want". Mom liked to have fell out when I showed her that one! It was so funny!
Well...I hope y'all have a great day and have some fun!

My sweet Valentines

I hope everyone had a Happy Valentine's Day. I thought I would share a few pictures of me and my valentines. My children. I love them so much. I had to work the whole week-end and I didn't get to see Christy or Cole. I will be mailing Cole's valentine box today. ( I know, it's late...that's normal for me.) Hopefully I will be seeing Christy tomorrow and be able to give her valentine goodies to her. I was able to spend a little time with Garrett before going in to work. Valentine's Day is a busy day for us at work. This is me and Garrett. An old picture...from Christmas. Isn't he precious?

Me and Christy at her birthday party in January. She has grown up to be such a beautiful girl and such a sweet mommy.

Christy and Garrett...I love this one!

You can see the LOVE between them here.

Me and Christina during the Christmas holidays.

Me and Cole the day after Gabriel was born.

He was so tired and so excited about his new baby boy.

My sweet little Garrett after I gave him his Valentine candy. (Chocolate Monoply) He was so happy. He didn't think he was gonna get anything. Look at that smile!
Looking at this picture reminds me that I never did a post about my china cabinet being finished. I just have to scrape the paint off the glass where I was a little sloppy. If you click on the picture to enlarge it, you will see that! I need to fix that! Maybe tonight. I'm so glad that I have my computer back! Gotta go to work now.

Love y'all,

Having fun in the snow in Mississippi

Well...I've seen so many blogs today with 'snow' pictures that I thought I'd better put a few on mine. It started snowing last night and its still coming down. I took Rosie outside to see it and to play. She had never seen snow before and at first she was a little bit afraid of it. She didn't stay that way for long! She ran all over the yard! She looked like a little 'Tasmanian devil' running in the snow. I think that we had about 4 or 5 inches at the time of this post. That is rare in our part of the woods in Summit, Mississippi. Garrett grabbed her because she was getting too close to the road. She didn't like that at all. She wanted to play some more.

This picture was taken after she was put on the porch for getting too close to the road so many times. She was begging 'Bear' to help her get off the porch. I love this picture. The size difference between them is HUGE!

Okay...just a little more fun. 'Bear' is helping to watch over her. This is the front of my cottage. It still needs so much work done on it. However it does look pretty in the snow. Snow makes everything prettier!

Bear...are you trying to knock over the kids' snowman or are you doing something else?!

Hailey and Garrett and their masterpiece. Mr. Frosty.

Rosey all changed and warm in mama's bed. She's my little sweetheart. She looks so pretty in her pink polka dot shirt. She won't keep her bow in her hair...she shakes it out every time I fix it.

Maybe we can play in the snow again tomorrow. Everyone stay warm and safe!
