My first project of the new year

I plan on getting at least one project done a month. I would say more...I will probably do more, however to not stress myself out too much I will just say one a month. :) Back in August my sister and I spent the day together for her birthday. We went to lunch and went 'thrifting'. We love spending time together doing that. Last time it was her time to find a bargain. This time it was mine. :) I found this mirror at a junk store....way up high on the wall of an old warehouse. I'd been in there several times...don't know how I missed it before. The guy said it had been there for a long time. He sold it to me for $20.00. We left it there and went to a few other stores. I had to call Stevie and get him to go pick it up for me. He said that when he got there he didn't realize that he was going to have to get it down from the wall too. Oooops! He said that they almost dropped it. So glad they didn't.

The whole time he kept saying to himself...."What is she going to do with this thing?" Another project....

Well.....It turned out so pretty. After a coat of primer and two coats of paint. It fits perfect on my old dresser that I painted a while back. It even has a light at the top. All I have to do now is buy two little wooden disks to cover the holes at the top. It was missing two. I decided to go ahead and take a picture and post it because we are almost into the second month of the year. Gonna finish a new project for February. Or maybe two. :)

I think it turned out so pretty.

I also thought that I would show you what Stevie did for me for New Year's Eve. I had to work and I while was there He prepared for us a delicious dinner. He had the table all set and everything with some of my old Christmas dishes. He had bought me these pretty flowers for my desk at work during the holidays. (He must have had this planned.) lol

It was so yummy! Better that any restaurant around here.

I even made a 'happy' plate. :)

We had a quite evening at home for our first New Year's Eve.

Didn't he do a great job? He even wore pink...for me. :)Hope you all are having a wonderful new year so far.

Packing up the Christmas stuff...

Today I finally started packing up some of our Christmas decorations and getting things back to normal. I had all day off from work and it felt so good. These are a few of the things that I packed away. My sweet little snowman picture that I bought at TJ Maxx last year. The words really mean a lot to me.

We bought Christy the three wise men to go with her nativity. She loved them.

Our Christmas dishes in the kitchen hutch.

Our poinsettia wreath and garland.

A few things out of the kitchen window.

Stevie and I decided not to exchange gifts this year.....but he surprised me with a teapot to match my china. Wasn't that so sweet?

As I was going through my pictures, I found a few from Christmas that I thought I would share.

This is the pineapple upside down cake that I made to take to my sister's for our 'get together'. It was delicious. I thought it turned out pretty too.

I also made my sister's favorite...Date Nut Balls.

She loves them. They are so additive. You can't eat just one.

My sister's daughter Whitney, me and my daughter Christy, my sister Melinda and our mom.

My daughter and my youngest son Garrett.

And her son Jason.

Opening up a gift from Christy and Phillip.

They bought us a pancake making set. We love it. They know how much we love to cook.
We had a good Christmas spending time with our family. I hope that you all did too.

Christmas at Aunt Jenny's Victorian Cottage

Can you believe that Christmas has come and gone already? I hope all of you had a merry one and enjoyed celebrating the birth of our savior with your family and friends. Stevie and I both worked a whole lot but we were still able to make a few new Chrismas memories with our families. We had my Dad's side of the family's Christmas party at his sister's house this year. Aunt Jenny and Uncle Jerry have the prettiest Victorian cottage and it was so homey and festive.

This is our first Christmas together as husband and wife.

I'm showing lots of pictures on this post for family members that couldn't be there. Some of them didn't come out too well but I posted them anyway. I just love Aunt Jenny's Victorian cottage. I always have. This is a picture of one of her dessert tables. She had pecan pie, plum pudding, fruit cake, fresh apple cake, homemade shaped cookies for the kids and tons of other sweets. I can't remember them all but I do know that I ate way too much of them. :)

This is another section of her pink dining room with her victorian pink tree. I love this room. The walls were wide cedar paneled when they first bought the house many years ago. They didn't stay that way long....:)

This is their front den. It is a very large room with high ceilings. She has a Christmas tree hanging upside down from the ceiling in there and I forgot to take a picture of it. These walls are the original bead board. When they first bought the house it had old cheesecloth wallpaper hanging in there.

This is me and my little boy Garrett and Uncle Jerry. Not the best picture but I wanted you to be able to see more of the den.

This is the mantle in her dining room. So pretty!

This is a lamp on her buffet in the den. I remember when she bought this lamp many years ago. I like it so much....I had to have one too.

Aunt Jenny all ready with her video camera. She had everything decorated so beautiful.

Fixing our plates...so much food and everything was so delicious. I was asked to bring my usual...sweet potato crunch. They ask me to make it every year.

I just spotted another upside down Christmas tree hanging from the ceiling in this picture. I didn't even notice it when I was there.
Uncle Jerry washing some of the dishes....he is a sweetheart.

Me and my little boy. He is growing up way too fast.

Me and Aunt Jenny. Daddy's baby sister.

Me and Aunt Shelby. Daddy's oldest sister.

Me and Aunt Ann. Daddy's middle sister.

Me and Daddy.

Aunt Shelby and her grandaughter, Kimberly.

Kimberly and her boyfriend.

My cousin Angie and her hubby, Randy. She is Aunt Jenny's daughter.

Uncle Jerry and Aunt Shelby cleaning up afterwards. Again I posted this one so you could see more of the house.
Aunt Ann and Uncle Jerry in the kitchen.

Aunt Jenny, Aunt Ann, Daddy and my cousin John in the kitchen. I love her kitchen. It looks and smells like Christmas.

Some of the Garrett's little cousins. Zack, Jessie and Ethan.

Stevie even got caught in this one getting some of daddy's famous lima beans.

Hope you enjoyed seeing pictures from our family get together. This one is a little blurry but I had to post it. I love her kitchen. Makes me wanna paint mine again....Well, almost. :)

Hugs to you and Happy New Year!
