Halloween 2007

I found this picture of me and my sister from Halloween 2007. I had forgotten all about it. We went to a Halloween costume party at her friend's house. She was 'Dorothy' from the 'Wizard Of Oz' and I was a police woman. I felt really 'tough' in this costume! I even had a ticket book and I tried to give a couple of people tickets for various wrong things that they were doing. They really were not doing anything bad. It was a family party and there were children there. Cole even played his guitar outside and everyone sat around and listened to him play and sing. My friend Stevie went as a 'prisoner'. Melinda's husband went as the 'Scarecrow' from 'Oz'. It was a fun party!!! I can't find the other pictures.

I don't even know what I'm doing awake. I should be sleeping. I have to be at work at 4:30 in the morning for inventory. I slept a couple of hours this afternoon so I guess that is why I can't sleep now. I will work until 1:00 and then come home to eat and rest and go back at 6:00 and work until midnight or after. Thats why I'm saying I should be sleeping right now. I guess I'm just too keyed up thinking about tomorrow. Yesterday I counted my china stock-room and china wall. That is a lot of dishes! The funny thing is that I kept imagining having different patterns and decorating with them. I just love dishes! I have several patterns and I love all of them. My granny was like that. She loved all of her dishes! She didn't have a whole lot that matched but it was neat having them all mixed up. I had my favorite dinner plate to eat out of. Of course it had roses on it. I miss those days.
I guess I had better try and get some sleep. I may not be able to post for a couple of days. I know with work, I will be very tired. Thats ok, I did 2 posts today! Thank you everyone for leaving me sweet comments and wishing my daughter a happy birthday. It really meant a lot to me.

Little girl all grown up...

Happy birthday Christy! We love you! My daughter turned 26 years old on January 12th. Her husband had her a surprise party. He did all of the cooking and even baked her a cake. That was so sweet!

Here she is with a few of her birthday gifts. She collects "Willow Tree" figurines. I think that she ended up getting 5 of them. I bought her two but she already had one of them. I will have to exchange it for her. I bought her the one called 'Cherish'. It is the one that is 'expecting'. I could not find it before she had the baby or I would've gotten it before. This one she is holding was from her Grandpa Rodney and MaMaw Pat.

This was the one that her daddy got for her. It is called 'Father and Daughter' . Christy's face is red because she always gets so emotional. She is so tender hearted.

Her 'Nanny' got her this one called 'Grandmother'. It is adorable.

This is a picture of me and my 3 children. Cole is 17 now and Garrett is 7. I am so proud of them. They are everything to me.

My daughter's birthday

I know I have been missing in action for a few days. I have been so busy with work. We are having inventory this week and I have been having to clean out my china stock room and also organize all of my china tables, etc. I just love dishes! Every time I go into the stockroom, I see another china pattern that I fall in love with. My daughter's birthday was on the 12th. She turned 26 years old. It seems like yesterday that I held her in my arms and looked into her eyes for the first time. Now she is a mama and she is experiencing all of the joys of having her own little baby to nurture and love. She is such a good little mama. I am so very proud of her. These are just a few 'pictures of pictures' that I wanted to share with you of me and Christy. I wanted to put more but I have to unpack my boxes and find them. I haven't hooked up my scanner as of yet...I haven't figured that one out yet. The song I have playing is a song that I use to sing to her when she was a baby. It was on a Disney movie that she loved...'Dumbo'. This is a better version of it. I just love Allison Craus. One day I was playing the CD for Christy in my car and when she heard it she got so emotional. She told me that she sang it to her baby. She was expecting at the time. I was so touched that she remembered the song.

Isn't she just adorable? I cherish these photos. They are some of my favorites. Christy has been such a joy to all of her family. All of her grandparents love her dearly.

Christy's husband Phillip, gave her a surprise birthday party the other night. He did all of the cooking himself while she was at work. He made chicken and dumplings, (her favorite) and sausage jambalaya, and bacon burgers. He even baked her a birthday cake. I will post pictures of her party as soon as I get them downloaded.

She was around 2 months old here. We were at her great grandparent's house. They loved her so much.

Last night when I got in from work, I visited a few of my favorite blog friends. I went to visit my friend Deanna from 'Timeless Things' and was surprised to see that she had posted about me and asked her blog friend's to come by my blog to read a post that I had written about me and my little brother and sister when we were little. I had no idea that this post would've touched so many people. I just poured out my heart that day. I felt warm all over that day and every time I get a knew comment on it, it makes me tear up. Thank you, Deanna for telling your friend's to come by. That was so sweet. You have become a very good blogging friend to me and I cherish that.

I want to share with you a special story. When we were children...me, my sister, and brother lived in a little tiny house with our mom. We even called it 'the little house'. My mom and dad were divorced when I was around 12 years old. Anyway we three kids shared a small bedroom. We had bunk beds and my brother slept on top and Melinda and I slept on the bottom. (You wouldn't believe how many times I would kick really hard on the bottom of the top bunk to try and make my brother fall off! LOL) I know, I know...that wasn't very nice! He is a couple of years younger than me and we didn't get along too well. He thought that I was always trying to be the boss of him and our little sister. Every night I would read to them out of this Bible story book that my Sunday school teacher had given me. I would read one story each night. Robbie (my brother) wouldn't pay attention too much but Melinda always did. At the end of each story there would be questions to ask to see if they were listening. The first one was always "Were you listening?" Melinda was always ready with her answers. She wanted me to be so proud of her that she paid attention and got all of the answers correctly.

(We are 7 years apart in age. ) We had Christmas at her house this year and her little boy Chase brought this book to me and gave it to me. It made me want to cry. It brought back so many memories. I remember writing this message inside the front cover. I read this book to my little girl when she was growing up too. These 2 pictures are some of my favorites in the Bible story book.
My heart was so touched that Melinda had kept it all these years and then gave it back to me. I actually didn't know what had become of it. I will keep it always and read it to my little boy 'Garrett' and to my grandson 'Jason'. I'm not sure what the big 'A' was for. I might have graded them and given them an 'A'. We always would play school. I taught my little brother how to read when he was 4 years old.

I just wanted to share this story with you. I hope every one out there has a blessed day!

Rain and Pain Go Away...

Good morning! I feel so much better today! The rain has gone away and my fibro-pain has eased up. Yesterday I almost could not get out of bed. The weather was very bad and my body hurt all over! I have to go into work at 4:00 today. Since I feel so much better, I hope to be able to get a few things done at my cottage. I wanted to show some pictures of my friend's kitchen cabinets. She just had them done in the 'crackle' style. I love them! Since I haven't painted mine yet...this is how I want to do them. This cottage didn't have upper cabinets when I bought it so I got some from Lowe's (my favorite store!) and got my friend Stevie to install them for me. I haven't had time to paint them yet. I'm glad that I didn't because when I saw hers, I knew that was what I wanted to do! I already had new counter tops installed. I just used Formica. It looks a lot better. I picked a pattern that looks like granite.

I hope that I will be able to make them look this good. I've never done crackle finish before. I plan to start on them in the next week. I'm still packing up Christmas now.

My appliances are black. I had always wanted black appliances so when I moved to my cottage, I had to buy new ones anyway, so I was finally able to get the ones that I wanted. I still don't have a dishwasher...that is on my list for this year. Maybe for my birthday in April. I can get myself a birthday gift! My cottage is a work in progress...a lot of hard work! I know when it gets finished, I will be so happy!

My sister gave me a little desktop calendar for Christmas. Each day has a different thought for the day. Today's thought is...
"Be grateful for the home you have,
knowing at this moment,
all you have is all you need." I love this quote. It really helps me to put things in perspective.

Sister time...

I found these old pictures of me and my sister, Melinda. They were taken about 5 years ago. We were holding my puppy "Chico". I don't have him anymore. I gave him to my step-daughter, Erin. This year is already starting off to be a good one. Melinda and I are making plans to get together soon and have some 'sister' time. Wonder what we can get into?

My sister, my friend...Melinda

Happy New Year!!! I hope everyone out in blog land had a safe 'Happy New Year'. We didn't go anywhere. We decided to stay home and relax and watch movies. I had to work until 6:30. I was asleep before midnight. I just couldn't keep my eyes open. The holidays really wiped me out this year. These are pictures of me and my sister at her house. I was acting silly! She has a blog now called 'Meme's Place'. She just started it. She lives in Kentwood, La. She and her husband have a hardware store there. If you get a chance, pay her a visit and leave her a comment. She would love it.

I have a good many New Year's resolutions this year. One of them is that I plan on spending more time with my little sister this year. We use to have so much fun together. Seems like we just got way too busy with other things this year and didn't spend enough time together. I miss our times going to thrift stores together and having scrapbook parties! This past year has been too busy. I want this new year to be a year of doing more of what I like to do. I want to have more fun times with my family and friends. I want to take time to 'stop and smell the roses'.
