The last couple of days have been so busy for me! On the 26th, I went to visit my sister for her 35th birthday. She lives in Kentwood, La. Thats only about 30 minutes from me. Isn't is strange that people can live so close and barely get to see each other? So many things take our time! We both have 3 children and we both have full-time jobs. We went to lunch together at a place called "Skinney's". They have the best BBQ!! I gave her a beautiful mirror frame and a yankee candle that is called 'clean cotton.' Also a keychain that she can put pictures in. She loves to take pictures!! Her walls in her home are full of pictures of her family. Being at Skinney's brought back so many memories. When I was 15 years old, I lived behind the resturant in a mobile home with my mom and brother and sister. My mom worked at the resturant. We got on and off the schoolbus in front of the resturant. Every afternoon we would go in Skinney's and eat and do our homework in the back room. They had an old jukebox in there and I would play Endless Love and sing to my 'pretend 'audience. I was extremely shy back then. I guess that was my way of 'pretending' that I wasn't shy! When we were there the other day I couldn't help the memories from popping in my head. So...Melinda, if you are reading this, that dazed look that I might of had was me thinking back to when we were younger and living there. I guess I should have mentioned it while we were there. I just didn't want to bring up any sad memories on your birthday. I left that year and got married a few months later. One month before my 16th birthday. Seems like yesterday, sometimes.
Well...yesteday morning, I had my other test done at the hospital. That was my first time to ever have a CT scan. I had to drink a bottle of contrast the night before and one bottle that morning. I think that was the hardest part because it tasted bad and I have trouble swallowing stuff that doesn't taste good. The dye that they used in my iv made me feel hot all over and I got a strange metal taste in my mouth. I'm glad that is over. I hope to hear from my doctor soon. I hope the tests are finished!

I love being a grandma...
Today I got to keep my grandson. He is such a doll. My daughter just started back to work last week. Today was my day off from my job so I kept him for her. ( really for me!!) We had a good time. He is almost 3 months old. He looks so much like my daughter when she was baby. He looks like his daddy too. It seems like yesterday that she was just a baby. She turned 25 in January. My oldest son Cole gets to come home on his first pass this coming weekend. I cant wait to see him. He is growing up so fast too. I didn't get to do anything on my cottage today other than regular cottage keeping. I hope to get back on some already started projects soon. Everyone needs a little break sometimes! I will try to post some pictures soon. I just bought a scanner and I haven't had time to try it out yet.

Good As New!
I haven't posted in a couple of days because I was getting ready for and having a colonoscopy done. I know that sounds so direct and to the point. I just couldn't think of an easier way to say it. I am glad that it is over! The prepping was the worst part...you get to sleep through the actual test. Thank goodness!! This is a test that everyone needs to have done every few years. Im at home today so I wanted to try to catch up on my blogging. I love this new way of communicating!! (It is new to me, anyway.) I've met several sweet ladies on here and it is so good to talk to all of them. It keeps the lonelies away during the day! My oldest son is at Camp Shelby Academy until December. He is doing really good there. Im so proud of him. My baby son just started back to school last week. He is in 2nd grade. Im so proud of him too. The house is so quiet without them here. I miss them both. I guess that I should take advantage of this time to have for myself because I dont get many days off from work to stay home. Looking at other blogs helps to get me motivated! I think I will now go and paint a piece of furniture or something!! Have a good day!

Getting it done!
I've been very busy working on my den. Almost through painting. The wallpaper is what took so long. Now I want to tile the floor. The carpet is old and I just hate carpet! I know that will be a huge job. But it will be worth all of the hard work. My little dog is 10 years old and sometimes when Im at work she has accidents. Sometimes I think she is turning back into a puppy!! She is my baby! Her name is Sassy and she is a miniture sheltie. I had her mother (Classie) for 9 years. She died about 4 years ago. I will put pictures of them on my blog one day. I wish that I had more time to work on my little cottage. Sometimes I'm just too tired when I come home from my real job.

Just Gotta Love Wallpaper!!
Well...I have been very busy getting my den ready to paint. Every room in this little cottage had paneling walls. I dont care for that at all. I primed and painted my bedroom a pretty sage green straight on the paneling. It looks a lot better, however if you bump the walls with anything, the paint comes off!! Im not ready to repaint the bedroom right now because I already have my furniture set up. One day I will repaint it. As for now I will just touch up any scratches. I worked on my den this past weekend preparing the walls for paint. I decided to put up textured wallpaper that you can paint. It has an orange peel design to it. I put this up in my dining room too before I painted it. It turned out really pretty. The paper covers the lines in the paneling and makes it look more like drywall. The den is gonna be painted 'touching white'. It is such a pretty color. It is really a pale peach color. Very shabby and feminine. I plan to use ivory painted furniture and ivory slipcovers on the sofa and loveseat. Well...I'm off to work, at my real job. Maybe I can paint tonight.

My First Blog!!
Im so excited!! I've been wanting to start a blog for a while now. I've decided it was about time. I've always been intimidated by computers and anything else with buttons. I call it button-phobia. I have been reading several blogs for the last few months and I just love seeing how other people with the same interests as me are doing. I love to be inspired by other peoples creative ideas.
