A Year in Review at the cottage

Hello everyone! I hope all of you had a very Merry Christmas! This year is almost over! It has went by so fast! I'm ready to start the new year. I've been working on my New Year's resolutions list. I don't want to make it too long...don't want to make it too hard to follow. However, I have so many things that I want to accomplish this year around my little cottage. I thought that I would do a 'mosaic' of different pictures taken around the cottage this past year. Cindy at 'My Romantic Home' is having a "A Year in Review" party. I thought that I would join in and show some pretty pictures of my flowers around the cottage and a few pictures of my Christmas tree and even some pictures of when it snowed. We usually don't get too much snow around here in our little town. It was beautiful. I hope that you enjoy these pictures and please go by Cindy's to see all of the other participants. Her party is December 31st. Y'all come!

Merry Christmas, everyone.

I just wanted to do a short post and wish everyone a Merry Christmas. I just woke up from a nap and now I'm getting ready to play Santa. We closed early at work today and then I had to come home and take a nap...I was exhausted. I also have a terrible cold...I took medicine and took a nap. Now I'm feeling so much better. Garrett is fixing to be tucked into bed and as soon as he is asleep...Santa will be doing his thing.

Merry Christmas!

An award from Tammy

An award from Tammy at A Stitch In Time...Tammy sent me this a while back and I am just getting around to mentioning it. I have been so busy working in retail with the holidays coming. I am suppose to list 10 things about myself and pass it on to 10 other people to do the same. 1. I am a procrastinator! I bet y'all didn't know that! lol Just now posted about this award proves that. I always have good intentions but somehow my good intentions get pushed aside with other things. 2. I work better at everything...I mean EVERYTHING when I am under pressure. I have always been that way. Examples...In college, I would cram for tests the night before, staying up all night long with a pot of coffee and going to class and taking the test and making an 'A' and then coming home and crashing! Why I always did that I will never know. Another example...cleaning the whole house the day before a party or family get together instead of doing a little each day. Doing it all in one day! I'm talking cleaning the dust bunnies off of the ceiling fans down to cleaning the grout in the floor tile! Don't know why I'm like this. Must be a disorder that I haven't heard about yet. After the party, I can't even get out of bed because of the exhaustion! Maybe I will learn one day. LOL 3. I don't like putting gas in my car! Not just because of the cost of it...I just don't like doing it. Whenever I see the little 'gas light' come on, it makes me moan and get a sad face. I then know that I have to stop and fill her up again! That is one thing that I have learned to do...fill it up. That way I don't have to stop too often. 4. I love to spend my day off just taking it easy around the house doing whatever I feel like doing. Staying in my p.j.'s all day long, watching old movies (The black and white ones!) , Blogging and just simply relaxing. It does my body good and I feel refreshed the next day at work. 5. I love painting! I'm talking about painting walls, furniture, cabinets, etc. It makes me feel so good to take an old piece of furniture and make it look so pretty with a couple of coats of paint. To me it brings out the beauty in old tired pieces. Why do I have STILL to paint the bottom cabinets in my kitchen? I must be procrastinating...again. lol 6. I love spending time with older people. I love to hear their stories about their life and the things that they learned throughout the years. I could spend hours listening to them. 7. I don't like hurting other people's feelings. Matter of fact, I will totally avoid the situation rather than hurt some one's feelings. I know that it can have a lasting impact on people. I've been hurt many times in my life and I don't like those feelings that come with being hurt. I usually avoid being hurt or hurting others at all costs. If I do hurt someone without realizing it of course and I find out that I did it, I get so upset with myself and it will make my heart hurt to know that I was so careless. I will apologize and try to get over it but it still lingers in the back of my mind. 8. I have a dream of owning a daycare one day. I don't think that I've mentioned this before on my blog. Its just a little dream that seems to resurface from time to time in my mind. (A lot lately) I love babies and children. I always have. I started babysitting at age 11 and I think about each child that I kept and wonder how they are doing and where they are living now. I've seen several over the past few years...they are all grown up and some with children of their own. I would love to have a daycare fixed up just like a grandma's house...a place where they would all feel welcomed and loved. A place where they could be themselves and have fun baking cookies, finger painting, and playing all day long! Having 'no worries' just like it should be. 9. I would rather give gifts than receive them. I've always been this way. Well...maybe not as a kid...maybe I just grew into it as I grew up. I love to see the smile on some one's face whenever I give them something. It makes my heart smile. 10. There are several things that I want to learn how to do this upcoming year. One is that I want to take some painting classes. I want to learn how to paint all kinds of things. Roses being the first thing! I've tried several times on my own but never been too happy with how they turned out. I know that it takes lots of practice and maybe with some classes I could learn the basic technique and then take it from there. The other thing would be to learn to play the guitar. Just for myself. My dad plays, my Uncle plays and my son plays and I want to too. I'm sure I have that talent hidden in there somewhere.

Well..I have to go now. Gotta get ready for work. I only have an hour! I'm sure I can do it. I work great under pressure. Oh and did I mention that I hate putting gas in my car and it is on empty! Oh well...here I go again!
Thanks, Tammy for this award. I'm passing it on to anyone out there that wants it and wants to share more things about themselves with us. This was fun!

Another home tour...

I am posting my "Show off your cottage Monday" post a couple of days early. I will link it with Cielo at 'The House in The Roses' on Monday. I have been so busy at work and it is just going to get busier and busier so I decided to take advantage of a little free time while I can to blog. I'm thankful that the store has been so busy with the economy being like it is.

I wanted to show you another 'home' that I looked at a while back. It is another manufactured home and it is a triple wide. I love looking at them. (I get so many ideas.) A friend of mine works there and she lets me look whenever I want to. This one is gorgeous and if I was ever in the market for one...this would be one of the top ones that I would pick from! The pictures were taken using my cellphone so some are a little blurry. This picture was taken going inside the front door. You can see my reflection in the glass.

This is the foyer going into the living room/den. You can see the dining room through the archway. I love the hardwood floors. Beautiful...

This is the fireplace in the den. The other side of it is in the breakfast room. I would love that!

This is the master bedroom. It has a huge walk in closet.

This is in the toilet area. It is separate from the bath and shower area.

It has a big bathtub and a huge shower. I love the white shutters on the windows above the tub.

This is the sink area in the bathroom. Double sinks and tons of cabinets. Even a place for a t.v. I could soak in the tub and watch one of my favorite decorating shows.

Look at this huge shower. Going through that doorway is the toilet area.

I could see my self relaxing in this tub with bubbles and a good book. I would look like a prune when I got out. lol

I love how open the rooms are.

This is a side view of the fireplace. You can see that one side is in the den and one side is in the breakfast area. It would be so warm and cozy. It has cubbie holes on the end. (That's what my little boy calls them.) I guess for books and other goodies. I love the stone too.

This is inside the breakfast area looking into the kitchen. I love the arches and columns.

Inside the kitchen. All stainless appliances. Wood butcher block island.

Fireplace in the breakfast room. This would be the room that we would eat in everyday and save the dining room for company and special dinners and holidays. Oh I would have a ball decorating this home!

Shutters on the windows in the breakfast room. It is a blurry picture but I wanted you to see it.

Archway going into the formal dining room. It has five windows in there. I would love it!

There is a solid wall on the left where I could put one of my china cabinets.

Another view into the kitchen. I love the stone around the oven area. It also has a place for a t.v. for me to watch the news in the morning while drinking my coffee.

I love how the stove has it's own sunken in area. There is also a little coffee station to the left of the stove on the other side of the stone wall.

I love the sink and all of the cabinets. They sure don't make these homes like they use to. The counter tops are corian that looks like granite.

This is the view looking outside the kitchen window. A beautiful covered porch with it's own fireplace and a grill for cooking outside. It also has a place for a t.v. above the mantle.

Outside on the porch...under the kitchen windows.

Isn't this a beautiful home? I didn't even show all of it. There are 3 bedrooms in all and another bath with another huge tub and an office, big butler's pantry, and a big utility room. I stayed inside the home for about an hour. I was having a blast decorating in my mind!
Maybe I should start working at one of these places. I would love to sell these homes. Especially if I had customers as excited about them as I am! It would be a fun job! You never know....maybe one day.

I hope that you enjoyed this home tour. Please go over to Cielo's on Monday to see all of the other participants in 'Show off your cottage Monday'.

In the meantime, I will keep dreaming...

A new cottage home...

Today is 'Show off your cottage Monday' at 'The house in the roses' with Cielo. It is where you show off different areas in your home or someone elses and what you love about it. Since I can't load any pictures right now because of my computer problems, I will be showing some pictures of a home that we looked at a couple of weeks ago that is for sale.

This is the master bathroom. I love the colors...so serene. I love the 'bowl' sinks. There is one on each side of the bathtub. The faucet is so neat too.

Beautiful leaded glass window above the tub. This picture didn't show it up too good. There is the other sink on the other side. 'His and hers'.

Master bedroom. Very pretty. Doorway going into the bathroom.

This is going inside the home, standing in the foyer looking into the den. They had Christmas decorations out to make it all look so homey. I love the color green that they chose for the walls. The space above the mantle is for a flat screen t.v.

I love the bookshelves around the fireplace. (Gas logs) I kept thinking...where would the Christmas tree go? I do that every time I look at an empty house. Wonder why?

This one turned out dark. The sun was shining in through the windows.

Looking through the den into the foyer. That's where the Christmas tree could go! In the foyer...

Looking from the den into the kitchen and dining area. It is an 'open' floor plan. The color of the kitchen is called 'Paprika'. I love all of the large molding on the ceiling that separates the different areas.

Font sizeThe long island has open cabinets on each end for dishes. I would love that.

The kitchen has tons of cabinets and a pantry that is huge. Look at that refrigerator. Wow!

One thing that I love about the kitchen is that I could be in there cooking and still be with my family while they are in the den watching t.v. or playing games, etc. I love an open floor plan. I would change up the 'paprika' paint though. It wouldn't go with my things. I would choose a soft yellow for the kitchen with white cabinets. That would be a lot of cabinets to paint! I would leave the green in the den and foyer. It is a beautiful color. I could just see my kids playing board games at this little bar while I'm baking cookies or making popcorn.

Plenty of space for everything.

It has a flat surface stove top and a microwave above it and the oven is in the wall.

I love the 'bin' handles on the drawers. It has huge drawers to store all of your pots and pans.

Plenty of windows in the eating area.

Wasn't this home pretty? I wish that I would have taken pictures of the outside. It looks like a cottage...sage green with white shutters. Can you believe that this is a mobile home? They sure don't make them like they use to.
Hope y'all enjoyed the 'cottage' tour.
Have a great Monday and don't forget to go to 'The House in The Roses' to see all of the other participants.
