A pose with a rose...

This is a picture of me when I was a little baby. I'm not sure how old I was...maybe 2 years old. This was taken in front of the little house that I grew up in. The tree behind me was called a 'Mimosa' tree. It was small here..later on when I got older I use to climb this same tree. I remember countless times that Mama and Daddy would have to call me to get down from that tree to come and eat supper! Me and Daddy were just talking about that a few nights ago. I was about 10 0r 11 when I would climb up in the tree and lean back and read a book or daydream about living in Florida when I grew up. That was my dream then. I've been to Florida a couple of times but I've never lived there. I remember how the wind would blow the leaves and I would pretend that they were palm tree leaves. When you touch the leaves on this kind of tree, they will close like they are sleeping. That was my 'special' place. A place of my own.

My mom had me sitting on an old guilt that probably my granny had made...and she had given me a 'plastic' rose to pose with. I wonder what I was thinking when I was looking down at that rose?

I guess Mama started this love of roses for me when I was only 2 years old. Thank you, Mama.

Every time that I send you a card, I try to get one with a rose on it for you. I love you.

Almost crawling

These are more pictures of Jason that I took at my daughter's house last week. He is trying his best to learn how to crawl. Every time that he would crawl a step forward he would scoot backwards one step. I guess I can call it steps...I don't know what else to call it. LOL

He was trying so hard! He usually just rolls wherever he wants to go. I can't believe that he is getting so big. He is growing up so fast.
He is so precious! I could just kiss his cheeks off!

I'm off to go to work. I hope y'all have a great day!

Having fun with my grandson

I was too busy to post this past week end! What? Too busy to post? Yes...I was busy keeping my grandson while my daughter and her hubby went out of town to celebrate their early Valentine's Day. Her husband has to work on Valentine's Day. So...I got to play with Jason as much as I wanted to! We had so much fun! I decided to feed him outside on the porch because it was such a pretty day. It is really feeling like Spring is on its way! The little tee shirt that he has on belonged to his Uncle Cole when he was a baby. It says "Most valuable player". The little bouncy seat that he is in belonged to his Uncle Garrett. Nana is a pack rat! I keep everything! I can't wait to show his mommy these pictures.

Here he grabbed Sassy's hair and he was so proud to have finally gotten a hold of her!

Sassy was so sweet with him. Jason loves her. They are gonna have so much fun when he starts to walk. He needs to learn how to crawl first. LOL

I love to thrift shop!

I went thrifting a few days ago and I found some cute things! I bought this 'Grandma's Rules' plaque at Fred's Dollar Store. I just had to have it because I am a grandma now! It also helped that it has beautiful roses on it! Isn't is perfect for me?

I found this picture at a little Vendor's market that I go to. I also have a booth there. I've been doing very well with my booth. Even with the economy as bad as it is. The picture has a sweet verse on it that says........Our lives are touched by many people. But only a few leave that special feeling in our hearts, which lasts forever.
I think that I'm going to mail this to a special friend of mine. She is a very beautiful person inside and out. We have a lot in common, even our name. She also lives by the ocean and she loves Victorian things like I do. There are two ladies in the picture dressed in Victorian clothing and they are standing by the sea. I thought it was perfect and I just had to get it for her.
I thought this was a pretty little pitcher. Its made of metal , maybe brass. I'm gonna paint it white to put in my shabby chic den. It looks so dainty. Oh and it was only $1.00

Look at this adorable tea pot! I love it and I had to have it. It was only $3.00 and I couldn't pass it up! You know me and roses!

Last but not least is the picture of roses that I bought for my shabby den. I love it! It is the perfect colors! It was only $6.00. I have it hanging next to the china cabinet that I have been working on. It will look good with my rose dishes. I bought some material that I am going to experiment with today for the back of the cabinet. Several people have given me that idea to do that instead of painting. It took long enough to paint the outside of the hutch! Well, I better go and get started...I have a couple of hours left before I have to go to work.
Have a nice day!

Cole's BIG decision

These pictures were taken when Cole left a few days ago. He decided to go to north Mississippi to stay with some friends before he starts his college classes. He plans to start school this summer. Until then he will be working and saving money. I wasn't very happy with his decision to go there because I wanted him to stay home and go to our community college. I just thought it would be easier for him to stay at home and not have to worry about extra expenses, etc. However, that's not what he wanted to do. I guess he wants to try his wings! He wants to show everyone that he is all grown up. I'm proud of him...I just hated to see him go that far away.

See the pictures below. I think I'm still half asleep trying to post this before I get my little man Garrett, ready for school.

Me and Cole. We followed him through Jackson because 'Mama' (that's me) was afraid that he would get confused on the interstate in 'big' city traffic. He had not driven in a big city like that before. He did great. We stopped in Jackson to say our goodbyes. His mentor and our friend Stevie drove me. It was not a good day for me. My fibromyalga was in full swing and the pain was terrible. I didn't sleep a lot the night before.

How could he have grown up so fast?

Giving Cole a goodbye kiss. I even made a lipstick mark which he didn't even rub off. LOL

Cole and Stevie. He has been a very good friend to Cole.

Letting go is hard to do. It's something that we all have to do. I was the same way with Christy. I'm thankful that I have my precious kids. I feel so thankful that God has allowed me to have them in my life.
Well...I better go get the other baby ready for school. Garrett is already in 2nd grade. Oh no!!

Taking it out of storage..

I wanted to show y'all a bookcase that I bought. Isn't is just beautiful? It has 5 shelves with stained glass doors. I love stained glass. I have it in my bedroom and I'm gonna put the books that have picked up over the last couple of years that I have not yet had time to read. I think with having them in front of me in the book case, I will be more motivated to read them. Actually I'm reading one now called 'Tall Pine Lake". Its not the normal kind of book that I read, however I am enjoying it. I pick interesting books up all of the time at the thrift store. Most of the time, I give them away after I read them. I just bought a new one called 'One Small Thing' . I will have to read it next.

I had it in storage for a while but now I'm trying to get rid of extra things that I don't need or have room for. I have to get a piece of the glass repaired. (Thanks to my little boy when he was 3 years old.) I've had it for 4 years. Also I have to put one of the knobs back on. If I ever have an office or study, I will put it in there. Well..off to work I go! Have a nice day!
