October Fest

Last night was the 'October Fest' in the town where I live. The Art's Council had a membership drive to encourage new member's to join. I originally wasn't going to be able to go because I didn't have the extra money to spend. However my daughter was asked to perform and this was her first time to sing somewhere and actually get paid!!! She was so excited! Extra Christmas money!!!

It was held in the old 'Ice House' building downtown. They served all German food and German beer and wine. Since I don't drink, I thought I would at least enjoy the food. I drank water...that is the only other thing that they had and boy did I need it! I tasted many different things... that I had to chase down with water! I didn't like German food very much. I took a few pictures, most of them didn't come out because it was so dark in there. This is a German Christmas tree that they had decorated with old German ornaments.

Here is Christy singing one of her songs. She sang about 12 different songs. The one that I have playing now is one of them. (Stand By You)

She also sang 'At last', 'Heaven', 'You were always on my mind', and a few others. I was so proud of her.

They also had a costume contest. I had to go straight from work so I didn't get to dress up. I loved the little couple that dressed up like Dale Evans and Roy Rogers. They were in their 80's. They were so cute. The lady on the left was 'Mother Nature'.

Here is 'Flash' and a Greek Goddess.

A football player and a gypsy. There were others too but I forgot to take pictures of them all.

This is Kristen, a friend of Christy's that sings and plays the harp. I could have listened to her all night long.

Christy really loves to perform. She always has ever since she was a tiny little girl.

They sang together on this one and it was so beautiful. They sang "Listen To Your Heart".

Stevie took me because he knew how badly I wanted to go. Thanks Stevie!

Christy and her husband Phillip.

I watched her face and on certain songs, she looked at Phillip and was singing them just to him. So sweet...

I'm so proud of her.
I hope that you all have a Happy Halloween!

It sounds like a great time, even if the food wasn't to your liking. German food can tend to be heavy. Congratulations to your daughter for booking a singing job! I'm sure the extra money will come in handy for her at Christmas, wouldn't a little extra be handy for us all! Have a wonderful weekend!

Hey Lee Laurie,
I am glad that we got to go and hear Christy sing. I also know Phillip really appreciated us going and keeping him company. It was nice getting out and seeing some old friends too. The food and beverage was different....and I have to tell everyone, I will go ahead and apologize to you......y'all when we left the Art Council deal, Lee Laurie said we have to get some "Real American" food....so we went to the Sonic...ha....isn't that funny. It was really good though.
I enjoyed the music and company.
We will have to do it again.
Hugs,
Stevie
