I want to share with you a special story. When we were children...me, my sister, and brother lived in a little tiny house with our mom. We even called it 'the little house'. My mom and dad were divorced when I was around 12 years old. Anyway we three kids shared a small bedroom. We had bunk beds and my brother slept on top and Melinda and I slept on the bottom. (You wouldn't believe how many times I would kick really hard on the bottom of the top bunk to try and make my brother fall off! LOL) I know, I know...that wasn't very nice! He is a couple of years younger than me and we didn't get along too well. He thought that I was always trying to be the boss of him and our little sister. Every night I would read to them out of this Bible story book that my Sunday school teacher had given me. I would read one story each night. Robbie (my brother) wouldn't pay attention too much but Melinda always did. At the end of each story there would be questions to ask to see if they were listening. The first one was always "Were you listening?" Melinda was always ready with her answers. She wanted me to be so proud of her that she paid attention and got all of the answers correctly.

(We are 7 years apart in age. ) We had Christmas at her house this year and her little boy Chase brought this book to me and gave it to me. It made me want to cry. It brought back so many memories. I remember writing this message inside the front cover. I read this book to my little girl when she was growing up too. These 2 pictures are some of my favorites in the Bible story book.
My heart was so touched that Melinda had kept it all these years and then gave it back to me. I actually didn't know what had become of it. I will keep it always and read it to my little boy 'Garrett' and to my grandson 'Jason'. I'm not sure what the big 'A' was for. I might have graded them and given them an 'A'. We always would play school. I taught my little brother how to read when he was 4 years old.

I just wanted to share this story with you. I hope every one out there has a blessed day!

What a wondeful Christmas present to receive! I love the memory and the story that came with it. Your sister must have been keeping it until the right moment. Isn't it wonderful when momentos from our past, once thought lost, come back from the beyond?

A big hug to you and your sister!

Thank you for sharing that precious memory.

Lee Laurie--thank you for sharing this story--it is so touching. You planted seeds that grew wonderful fruit--and the teacher that gave you the book planted those seeds too. We have read devotions each night over and over to our kids from a devotional that was my husband's when he was a child.

Lee Laurie, my name is Byisteal and Deanna is a very close friend of mine. She wanted us to come and read your story and I'm glad that I came over to read it. I don't blog....yet! Deanna's been trying to get me to blog but I just don't have the time what with the kids having so many activities after school. I usually jump around all the blogs Deanna has listed on Timeless Things and really, I've not posted on any of them except for today. That was such a nice thing your sister did. I would have been blubbing the whole night.

Have a great one -Byisteal

I really loved your story and your sister did a lovely act. The three of us were just on the phone and Deanna told us she was posting about you so we ran to the laptops..luckily they have two hanging around! We just wanted to say that we enjoyed reading your post.
