The Old White House

This is a picture of my old bedroom a few years ago. I was more into the victorian style then. I still like that style, however I like more shabby chic style now. I have been changing my furniture by painting it white or off white. I painted the bottom of this dresser off white and I now use it in my dining room as the base of a hutch. I keep my linens and tablecloths in the drawers. This was my parlor in the old house. The walls were peach and my couch and loveseat were red velvet. The picture is blurry...I took a picture of a picture. This was an old house. Years ago a moviestar had her wedding reception in this house. Maureen O'Hara. She married a man from the town next to here. I've always loved her. I have many of her movies. One of my favorites is The Christmas Box. If you haven't seen it yet, you should watch it during this holiday season. It is a beautiful movie and she is just as beautiful and graceful as ever .

I had throw pillows on my floor that I had thrown off of my bed. I also had rolls of wallpaper in the corner by my dresser. I was in the process of decorating the house. We had only been there for a couple of months. We sold this house and moved back to our old one. I didn't like living in town. I missed the quietness and peacefulness of the country.

Hi Lee Laurie,
Thanks for stopping by. I too love the Shabby and Victorian. I think they are a good mix.
And the roosters, well you have seen my house. I love them too.
Have you figured out how to flip your pictures?
E-mail me and I will try to help you figure it out.

I like to mix the styles, I like the white look but I would be afraid to paint if I changed my mind later down the line. I just use lots of lace on my dark pieces!

P.S. Love Maureen O'Hara, and my daughter and I watch "The Christmas Box" every year. Actually, I haven't been able to watch it since my Mom died as it makes me too sad.
